Our Story

How We Met

Gabi and Jay met during their post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at the University of Virginia. Gabi had just graduated from Johns Hopkins, while Jay was making a bold career shift after ten years working in IT. Because of COVID, all their classes were online. They started with General Chemistry over Zoom—and even through the screen, they noticed a little chemistry between them, too.

Gabi still remembers laughing out loud at a meme Jay shared in the course chat. She reached out to him for coffee under the pretense of wanting to get to know her classmates—but really, she just thought he was cute. Over coffee, they discovered they lived in the same building—Jay just one floor above Gabi. From there, they started spending more and more time together, and the rest is history.

The Treasure Hunt

The first half of the day unfolded like a trail of clues, keepsakes, and little surprises. This is where the treasure hunt story can grow: the first clue, the places it led, the inside jokes tucked into each stop, and the way the day slowly started to feel bigger than a normal adventure.

The National Treasure Finale

The second half of the day shifted into a National Treasure-inspired finale, with the clues giving way to a more cinematic reveal. This section can eventually carry the details of the theme, the final setup, the big reveal, and the proposal itself.

The parchment background and archival details are intentionally light so the real text can evolve here. The layout leaves room for the proposal story to become more detailed while still giving the images a strong visual role.
